We reviewed our initial Pupil Voice priorities and discussed some of the ideas and suggestions that representatives had gathered from other pupils.
Pupils suggested a range of new groups and activities, including:
๐งฑ LEGO
๐ Dance
โ๏ธ Chess
๐ค Lunch Karaoke
๐ฉโ๐ณ Cooking
๐ฑ Gardening
๐ Volleyball
We will continue to explore which of these ideas might be possible and how we could take them forward.
We wanted to identify something that we could actually do straight away, rather than just talk about it.
We agreed to purchase soap and air fresheners for the toilets.
HS will organise this before our next meeting.
This is our first small action in response to the priorities identified by pupils.
We then looked at the HGIOURS (How Good Is OUR School?) documents and explored how they can help us find out more about pupils' experiences of school.
We split into two groups.
Each group selected five questions from the HGIOURS documents that they felt would be useful to ask pupils.
Both groups' questions have now been turned into Google Forms.
The first questionnaire to go out is predominantly on theme 1: Relationships.
One of the questionnaires has also been added to the Chromebook homepage to make it easy for pupils to access.
All Pupil Voice representatives will now share the questionnaires with as many pupils as possible and encourage them to complete them.
The more responses we collect, the better picture we will have of what pupils across the school really think and experience - helping us to identify areas where Pupil Voice can make a difference.
Thursday 22nd October 2026 โ Period 5
Our aim: Listen โ Find out โ Take action.
We were delighted to welcome our newly elected Pupil Voice representatives to our first meeting of the year and congratulate them on being voted onto the group. We also welcomed Elissa, our ESSA Active Schools Coordinator, who introduced herself and gave the group an overview of the wide range of sporting opportunities currently available at GHS. This provided an opportunity to discuss the sports and activities on offer, as well as some of the areas that we may explore further through Pupil Voice this year.
We then spent time reflecting on our current experience of school. Representatives shared their thoughts on what is working well, what they feel could be improved, and the things they believe should be priorities for Pupil Voice this year. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including toilets and school facilities, lunchtime activities, opportunities beyond sport, house activities, clubs, transport, practical subjects and wider opportunities.
The ideas gathered at this meeting represent the initial views and priorities of the Pupil Voice group. Representatives will continue to discuss these ideas with their peers and we will seek further views from pupils across the school as the year progresses.
Our next step is to explore these ideas further and identify where Pupil Voice can help make a positive and meaningful difference to school life.
Your voice. Your ideas. Our school.
